What happens during a CyberRisikoCheck?

The initial consultation
Here, we will hold an initial consultation with you (in person or online) to gather information about your business, explain our approach and prepare an analysis of your infrastructure.
Assessing the current situation
Based on the audit checklist, you will answer a total of 27 standardised questions about your organisation. It is important that the management team and those responsible for information security take part in this meeting!
Analysis and results report
Sit back and relax. We will analyse the data collected and produce a personalised report in accordance with DIN SPEC 27076.
Presentation of the results
In the final step, we will present the results report to you and explain it. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions, and we will provide you with recommendations for action as well as an overview of funding opportunities to help you make your IT infrastructure more secure.

The CyberRisikoCheck in accordance with DIN SPEC 27076 was developed by a consortium of 27 members. The consortium is led by the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and Der Mittelstand. BVMV e.V..
It is designed to assess and advise small and micro-enterprises across all sectors on IT and information security. DIN SPEC 27076 is intended to serve as a consultancy standard for this purpose in future. Companies receive, in a very short space of time, an overview of dangerous vulnerabilities, their current security status and recommendations for action to improve their own security.
Who offers the CyberRisikoCheck?
The CyberRisikoCheck is carried out by experienced and qualified IT service providers specialising in IT security consultancy and audits. In addition to the necessary methodological knowledge and years of experience, they must also be able to provide evidence of previous projects.
Who is the CyberRisikoCheck aimed at?
The CyberRisikoCheck, based on DIN SPEC 27076, is explicitly aimed at small and micro-enterprises with up to 50 employees.
Who is required to take part in the consultation process?
At the very least, the management and – if any – the internal or external information security officers should be present during the CyberRisikoCheck. What funding is available?
There are various german funding schemes available from the federal and state governments through which you can obtain partial funding for the CyberRisikoCheck. Possible options include, for example:
Federal Government:
- Funding for management consultancy for SMEs: The BAFA programme subsidises consultancy services for the digitalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises at 80 % of the costs, up to a maximum of €2,800.
State of North Rhine-Westphalia:
- Mittelstand-Innovativ-Digital (MID) voucher: The voucher is a specific grant designed to improve digital security. Small and micro-enterprises, as well as medium-sized enterprises, are eligible for funding of between €4,000 and €15,000. The funding rate for small and micro-enterprises is 80 %.
