When several servers are used to handle a task such as running an online shop or another application, this is referred to as a server platform. The interacting services – such as databases, file storage or web servers – are distributed across the individual servers and can be configured to be redundant, scalable and load-balanced, depending on requirements. Upstream caching systems often further reduce the load on the target servers.

Load balancing and scalability

Intelligent server load balancers and caching servers distribute traffic to your website or application across a pool of web servers. Dynamic content can be routed to separate target servers from static content (e.g. images or videos). Thanks to load-based distribution, a higher performance density per server can be achieved whilst ensuring the best possible response times for the end user. As your business requirements grow, your server platform can be expanded at short notice and without interruption by adding further server capacity.

With a well-thought-out security strategy, the relocation of critical services to isolated backend systems, and the clear separation of your data from that of other users, data protection and data security can be optimally enforced in a dedicated operating environment. Unless you explicitly request otherwise, your servers will be hosted at one of our data centre locations in Germany. In addition, upstream intrusion detection (IDS) and intrusion prevention (IPS) systems can detect and actively ward off attacks on your systems.
